A Drink for a Christian

So, y’all know today was my birthday, right? Ok, good. Well, by going with the lowkey theme of the day, I had a last minute, celebratory dinner with my mom at Frontera. After I ordered my regular #1 combination meal, my mom spotted a table ad for this promotional Spicy Mango Margarita. The picture looked great so why not? #YOLO. I decided to order one.

The drink was delicious (and tasted like straight mango juice). I drank most of it and went home. Then, I remembered a conversation from a church member that negatively implied Christians drinking as being drunkards. So, me being me, I researched the Scripture that stuck out in my mind about drinking.

And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit. – Ephesians 5:18 (NKJV)

It implies that there is nothing wrong with a drink, but when it’s done in excess, you’re defiling your body. I quickly rolled my eyes at the thought of said church member’s accusatory comments, as she embodies the Spirit of the judgmental, hypocritical Christian. But alas, it’s relative. The drink has been digested, my right mind is in tact, and I’m in bed watching hours 4-5am of season 3 of 24. Nothing one could do now but repent (if that was necessary). Dah well.

What do you think about Christians drinking a drink or two? Do you even care?
